SPJIMR Selection Process for Two-Year MBA Program

SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two-year flagship program that is considered equivalent to MBA. SPJIMR accepts both CAT and GMAT for its full-time 2-year MBA Program. Those who are willing to apply through the GMAT can do so by taking the test before the stipulated time mentioned on the official college website. This article will show you how your GMAT Score & profile should be during the SPJIMR selection process.

Firstly let’s have a look at the selection process.

In SPJIMR’s selection process, the applicants are shortlisted based on their profiles. The applicants need to fulfil the below-mentioned criteria and also achieve the qualifying score in at least one entrance exam.

Once you apply on the college website, the profiles are scored and shortlisted into two groups. Profile-based and Profile Cum Score based.

Factors Considered In The Selection Process Of SPJIMR:

  • Overall Profile
  • Academic Background
  • Work Experience
  • Score in Entrance Exam
  • Extra-curriculars and Achievements

As I mentioned before, the shortlisting of applications are divided into two groups: Profile Based and Profile Cum Score based.

Profile Based:

The applicants are shortlisted under the profile overview. If you have the best academic background and achievements in your profile, you need a minimum percentile in GMAT.

Profile Cum Score Based:

The second group is shortlisted on the profile cum score based. In this process of selection, the following factors are considered.

  • Consistency of academic record
  • Work experience
  • Versatility and achievements
  • Score in the entrance exams like GMAT

Here the score in entrance exams is mainly considered for the selection process, and a score of 700 in GMAT is the safe score for the applicants shortlisted in the second group, i.e. profile cum score group.

(The score range of the GMAT is from 200 to 800. There is no passing score in this GMAT exam. Every college has its minimum qualifying score to shortlist the applicants.)

Required Work Experience for SPJIMR Selection Process:

Work experience is not mandatory in this program. The freshers and those with less than five years of work experience can apply to this program.

Relevant work experience after graduation will be considered. Internship, training, project
work that was part of the curriculum will not be considered work experience. Also, even the apprenticeship in which are unpaid work was undertaken in any organization will not be considered work experience. Proof of work experiences such as offer letter, salary slips and the experience letter will have to be provided.

Required Academic Backgroud In SPJIMR Selection Process:

Applicants must be required consistent academic background. Performance in 10th
Grade, 12th grade and every year of graduation are considered in the selection process.

Graduation:

Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA awarded by any university incorporated by an Act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament.

Extra-curriculars and Achievement:

Extracurricular activities will also play an essential role during the selection process in SPJIMR. Fundraising is one of the most rewarding extracurricular activities for applicants because organizing any kind of fundraising activity at work highlights a person’s management and leadership skills. And the other activities like Studying a Musical Instrument, Mentoring a Teenager, volunteering work, and Coaching a Sports Team.
