The GMAT exam can be scheduled based on your convenience. For example, the CAT - Common Admissions Test - which is a top MBA entrance exam is held once a year in November. However, unlike this pattern, you can choose the date of your GMAT exam. Therefore, you will get the results i.e. the GMAT scorecard on the day of the exam itself.
A few weeks from your selected date, you will get the official GMAT scorecard from GMAC.

GMAT Sectional Scorecard
Your GMAT scores are presented as a total but, as the case with all exams, are a sum total of its parts.
For GMAT exam as a whole, there are no sectional cutoffs. However, there might be cutoffs for individual sections based on the colleges that you are targeting.
Section | Score Interval | Score Range |
Verbal Reasoning | 1 | 60-90 |
Quantitative Reasoning | 1 | 60-90 |
Data Insights | 1 | 60-90 |
Overall | 10 | 205-805 |
Based on the sections above, you can target your strengths. Further, remember that GMAT is an adaptive exam. The questions on an adaptive test are determined by your answers. If you answer right, the subsequent questions will be more difficult; if you answer erroneously, the following questions will be simpler. Naturally, you will receive marks based on the complexity of these scores. More accurate answers imply tougher questions, resulting in better grades.

In the graph above, the Y axis represents the level of difficulty. Every red dot that you can see is a wrong answer (because of this level of difficulty has fallen) and every green dot represents a rights answer (which will lead to an increase in the level of difficulty).
The tougher questions you attempt, the higher your score. It is an adaptive exam.

GMAT Focus Edition
In recent years there have been changes in the GMAT exam pattern. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a lot of universities decided to shift their curriculum as a result of changes in industry requirements. Since there was a shift in the curriculum, there was a change in the the entrance exam.
The GMAC, then came up with the GMAT Focus Edition.
Perhaps one of the most notable improvements is that the redesigned test will be about an hour shorter. And with just three portions. It will not include an analytical writing section, as the current version has. It will be hyper-focused on business principles and abilities, eliminating concepts from the current test that experts believe do not apply well in business school.
Because of these modifications, the exam will be more competitive. While the exam's success rate has remained constant, it has become more difficult. We say this because the pupils' available time has drastically diminished. As a result, students must handle the pressure and accurately answer the questions.
